About The Role

As an Enterprise Architect, you will be working alongside business stakeholders, strategic partners, and colleagues from AmerisourceBergen. You will be supporting the transformation of the core enterprise landscape within Alliance Healthcare, collaborating with teams across Finance, Supply Chain and Warehouse Operations.

You will ensure a broader understanding of how technology can support strategic business direction and help shape business initiatives. You will work with key stakeholders, subject matter experts and technology providers to develop a vision for how to exploit technology to the best advantage.

You will have an opportunity to shape the architectural direction across Alliance Healthcare’s Europe operations, guiding technology decisions and long-term investment plans.

You will be a part of the wider AmerisourceBergen architecture community, looking at how we align ways of working, share knowledge and insight and drive a continuous improvement culture.


About You

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to better understand the Business Strategy and IT capabilities needed to accomplish the objectives for use of technology.
  • Build relationships with colleagues from across the organisation. Advice on new business initiatives to lead very high-level 'solutioning'.
  • Provide domain expertise and market insight on technology trends contributing to the creation of the IT Strategy.
  • Create the Architecture Vision for business domains, bringing to life the target architecture that will enable the business strategy to be realised.
  • Develop the Architecture Roadmaps by indicating how the IT capabilities should evolve over time.
  • Guide the project activity required.
  • Lead Architecture Design activity, guiding the evolution of the IT landscape.
  • Provide holistic direction on solution design activity to ensure consistency of approach, recognition of interdependencies and maximum exploitation of technology investment.
  • Set the Architecture Standards to drive technology choices and maximise the reuse of components/ technologies to simplify the IT landscape where appropriate.
  • Promote creation and adoption of Architecture Patterns providing guidance for delivery teams and helping to ensure consistent processes.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Enterprise Architecture to define the enterprise architecture framework for Alliance Healthcare.
  • Collaborate with key Vendors to understand their product roadmaps for existing architecture components ensuring that implications are understood and can be appropriately incorporated into internal roadmaps.
  • Drive IT innovation by maintaining awareness of current and emerging technologies and providing professional expertise.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years experience working across a range of IT roles
  • Minimum of 5 years experience working as Solution or Enterprise Architect
  • At least 2 -3 years experience working with senior-level stakeholders
  • Experience working with IT Solution providers, Systems Integrators and large Consultancy organisations
  • Large SAP programme exposure
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, wholesale or distribution industry
  • Working for a multinational organisation
  • Use of EA tools (e.g Hopex, iServer, Planview)
  • Experience in the pharmacy/healthcare advantageous although not essential



  • Fluency in English
  • Knowledge & experience of SAP products and services essential
  • Manhattan WMS experience desirable

· Knowledge and understanding of the role of Enterprise Architect

· Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture Frameworks and Enterprise Architecture Tools (eg. Hopex, iServer, Planview)

Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes, including occasional international
